Mike Parker grew up in a time when radio ruled the airwaves, and he quickly fell under its spell. Inspired by the voices behind the mic, he kicked off his own journey with a mobile disco in the late 70s, playing packed-out venues across Merseyside and Greater Manchester—even the hottest clubs in Liverpool! He later took his love for broadcasting to Radio which saw him cruising the airwaves for many radio stations. Now, as part of Go Explore Radio, Mike’s back and ready to bring his passion for radio to listeners everywhere.

The Travel Bug

Travel has always been part of Mike’s story. What started as a summer job as a cabin crew member turned into a 35-year career in the skies. He spent much of that time with the late Monarch Airlines, exploring far-flung destinations like the Caribbean, Africa, the U.S., and Southeast Asia. When Monarch closed its doors, he took a short break, but the skies called him back, and now he flies with one of the UK’s leading airlines, jetting off across Europe and beyond.

Mike’s fascination with cruising started young, thanks to tales from his cousin who worked on the Queen Mary and QE2. In 1997, he took his first Caribbean cruise with his wife—and the rest is history. They’ve since explored the seas on around 30 cruises, from cosy cabins to opulent suites. For Mike, there’s no better way to see the world, and he’s always sharing tips and deals to help friends and fans give cruising a go.
