Masters of the Universe 2026: Trailer Breakdown, Easter Eggs & First Impressions

today26 January 2026 158

Background
share close

One of the most highly anticipated films of 2026, Masters of the Universe 2026 has finally dropped its first full trailer, plus, because this is modern marketing, a trailer for the trailer too, which is the first video below.

For those of us who grew up in the 1980s and 1990s, back when cartoons and toys were innocent and every episode came with a positive message, the nostalgia hit is real. Seeing the live action Masters of the Universe, better known as He-Man, returning to the big screen is genuinely exciting after so many false starts with different studios over the years.

In this rendition of Masters of The Universe it’s clear Travis Knight is putting his own spin on the story, while still holding on to the core ideas that made He-Man so special in the first place. Even at this early stage, the trailer is packed with nods to the original series.

In this article, I’ll be analysing the trailer, introducing some of the cast, highlighting the Easter eggs, sharing my predictions, and giving my honest thoughts on this first proper look at Masters of the Universe 2026.

Synopsis

Only by reclaiming it can he find his way back to Eternia, where he discovers his home world shattered under the fiendish rule of Skeletor.

To save his family and restore his world, Adam must join forces with his closest allies Teela and Man-At-Arms and finally embrace his true destiny as He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe.

Masters of the Universe Plot: What the Trailer Reveals

I know there are mixed feelings among MOTU fans, and we’ll get into that later. But going into this trailer, after reading the synopsis, I honestly expected something quite predictable. I thought Prince Adam would have lost his memory of how he got to Earth as a child and would slowly “remember who he was”.

That’s not what happens here, thankfully.

The trailer makes it very clear that Adam never forgot who he was or where he came from. He’s spent his entire life trying to find the Sword of Power and a way back to Eternia. We even hear him ask his mother, Queen Marlena, why she sent him away, and her answer hits hard, Earth was the only place she knew he would be safe.

That opening though…

The trailer opens in a very Assassin’s Creed-style way, with a bird flying across the landscape and slowly introducing us to Eternia. But this isn’t just any bird, it’s Zoar, the Sorceress of Castle Grayskull in falcon form.

Even though we don’t get a crystal-clear look, you instantly know who it is. The shape, the colours, it’s all spot on and very faithful to the comics and the cartoons.

We then get our first proper look at Eternia and Castle Grayskull (I’ll break those visuals down elsewhere), before being introduced to a young Prince Adam, who is sent to Earth by Queen Marlena.

One thing I really like is that the trailer shows us two versions of Eternia; Eternia before Skeletor and Eternia after Skeletor has taken over, damaged, scarred and broken

And the reason? He-Man wasn’t there to stop him.

Adam on Earth (and yes, HR gets involved)

On Earth, Adam lives as a pretty average guy, working a normal job, while his obsession with swords and getting home to Eternia slowly takes over his life.

We see this clearly in two moments:

  • His bedroom, covered in drawings of swords, warriors and people he remembers

  • And a scene where a woman, clearly some sort of manager tells him “This obsession with all this nerd stuff and swords is not a good look for human resources.”

I’m just saying… maybe she needs some HR training (I’m joking… mostly).

The toy shop scene is EVERYTHING

The toy shop scene is easily one of my favourite scenes in the trailer.

Adam finds the Sword of Power, being held by a He-Man-style figure (there’s a lot more to unpack here in the Easter Eggs section). What I love is how human Adam feels in this moment. He’s excited, vulnerable, almost childlike.

From the way he stares at the sword, to struggling to pull it free, to reassuring the shop assistant in this giddy way, “don’t worry, the sword it’s mine” it really shows how emotionally connected he is to it.

Castle Grayskull calling him back

When the camera pulls us into Castle Grayskull, I’m not gonna to lie, it genuinely felt like I was being pulled into the adventure with him.

This  is where we see a blurry Sorceress casting magic, this moment feels like either:

  • The Sorceress sending young Adam to Earth

  • Or sensing that Adam has finally found the Sword of Power

Either way, something big is happening.

Back to Eternia… and straight into danger

We then jump back to Earth, where Adam and Teela are in a ship preparing to go back to Eternia. What I really love here is the chemistry between them. It doesn’t feel awkward or forced, it feels warm, natural and caring and that can be sensed in the brief 3 seconds we see it.

When the ship lands near Castle Grayskull, I don’t think this is Adam’s first time back. He has blood on his face, the bridge is damaged, and Grayskull itself looks like it’s already been attacked.

Skeletor has clearly tried and failed to get inside. And that makes sense, because you need either the Sword of Power or the Sorceress to allow you to enter Grayskull.

This is also where we see Man-At-Arms/Duncan in full royal soldier gear, alongside Roboto, Cringer, Adam and Teela, and honestly, seeing Cringer put a huge smile on my face.

Doubt, destiny and full-on chaos

From here, things ramp up fast with a full-on space battle that feels very Star Wars like.

Man-At-Arms looking more like a resistance fighter than a royal general.

Adam openly asking what he’s supposed to do

Then Skeletor makes his entrance and yes, it absolutely feels like he’s taken notes from Darth Vader.

Man-At-Arms tells Adam to take the sword and protect them, and I get the feeling this is going to be a recurring theme, Adam questioning himself until he finally accepts who he is.

We get flashes of Fisto (and yes, we’re all adults, we all laugh at the name, but he’s literally a man with giant metal fists who punches people), then a cut to Adam facing Trap Jaw, and that moment where Adam draws the sword and you just know what’s coming next.

Worlds collide

Then it’s chaos:

  • Beast Man causing destruction on Earth

  • Adam reunited with Queen Marlena

  • Teela going head-to-head with Evil-Lyn (because why should the men have all the fun?)

  • Cringer growling, which honestly makes me wonder if Eternia’s fall is the reason he’s not such a scaredy-cat anymore

We also see Man-At-Arms back in full battle gear, launching himself onto Skeletor’s ship, The Collector.

And finally THAT moment…

Adam raises the Sword of Power. We don’t hear the full transformation speech, but we see lightning, smoke, Castle Grayskull wrapped in mist, and a massive magical shockwave blasting outward. Then we hear

“I have the power.”

And boom there he is, He-Man fully transformed and you just know butts are gonna get kicked.

Just when you think it’s over…

We cut to Snake Mountain. First a tease… then Skeletor in full glory; skull face, glowing red eyes, blue muscular body, Havoc Staff in hand, flanked by soldiers and a genuinely devilish looking Goat Man.

The trailer ends with He-Man and Skeletor clashing, purple magical energy from the Havoc Staff smashing into the Sword of Power. The sound design alone makes you feel that impact.

Honestly?

I watched it and just thought, Yeah. I’m ready for the next trailer now.

About the Director: Travis Knight

TRAVIS KNIGHT

Travis knight is the man behind Kubo and the Two strings and the Transformers spin off Bumblebee and has made it very clear in interviews that this is somewhat of a passion project for him and it will be very interesting to see how he handles old skool fan expectations, the Mattel action figure toyline, the original cartoon series and the more recent one as well the first live action movie from 1987 Masters of the Universe starring Dolph Lundgren’s as the muscle bound hero He-Man Frank Langella’s evil Skeletor.

Masters of the Universe 2026 Cast: He-Man, Teela & Man-at-Arms

I am not going to go into full details of the entire cast in this post as I am sure there will be more trailers and the movie review itself, I do want to cover 3 of the cast as they were prominent in this trailer.

Prince Adam/He-Man - Nicholas Galitzine

Prince Adam He-Man - Nicholas Galitzine_- Go Explore Radio

When it was first announced that Nicholas Galitzine had been cast as Prince Adam / He-Man, I’ll be honest, I had my doubts. Prince Adam? Sure, I could see that. But He-Man? That felt like a stretch and a hard sell. And judging by the early fan reaction online, I definitely wasn’t alone in thinking that.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m a big fan of Galitzine as an actor. Over the past few years, he’s very much become the man of the moment, starring in films such as The Idea of You, Red, White & Royal Blue, and Purple Hearts, as well as the TV series Mary & George. He’s proven himself to be versatile, charismatic, and capable of carrying a project as a leading man.

That said, until this trailer dropped, I genuinely couldn’t picture him as the He-Man I grew up with.

For a long time, I thought a more obvious approach would have been to cast Galitzine purely as Prince Adam, then bring in a more heavily built actor to portray He-Man, someone in the mould of Chris Hemsworth or Alan Ritchson, actors whose physiques already align with the most powerful man in the universe.

But credit where it’s due: Nicholas Galitzine has clearly put the work in.

He’s bulked up, leaned out, and committed fully to the physical transformation required for the role, when most actors wouldn’t. Is he as massive as the animated He-Man? No. Is he built like Dolph Lundgren in the 1987 live-action film? Also no. But to be fair, there are very few modern actors who match the sheer physical presence of 1980s action icons like Lundgren, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, or Steve James.

What Galitzine does bring, however, is a physique that looks earned, athletic, and believable, especially within the context of a modern reboot. And if you caught the text flashed towards the end of the trailer  “Witness how he became He-Man” , that line feels key.

This appears to be an origin story, the beginning of a potential franchise. If that’s the case, it makes perfect sense that Galitzine’s He-Man isn’t at his peak just yet. As the film franchise/universe progresses, and as the character evolves, there’s every chance his physicality will evolve with him, in a way that suits his body type and keeps the transformation grounded.

Man-At-Arms/Duncan - Idris Elba

Photo Credit: Amazon MGM Studios - © 2026 Amazon MGM Studios Content Services LLC The Layout of this image has been designed by Go Explore Radio for the presentation of this blog post

The casting of Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms (Duncan) was another choice that caught many fans off guard. Traditionally, Man-At-Arms has been depicted as a white, ginger-haired character, so it’s understandable that this decision raised eyebrows among long-time Masters of the Universe fans.

That said, race-swapping in itself has never been an issue for me when it comes to fictional works, what truly matters is whether the actor captures the essence of the character. Just as an example within the Marvel universe. In early Marvel comics, and even in the 1998 TV movie Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., the character was portrayed as a middle-aged white man, with David Hasselhoff taking on the role, a casting choice that, frankly, never quite worked.

Everything changed in 2008 when Samuel L. Jackson stepped into the role of Nick Fury in Iron Man. Over the next 18 years, across multiple films, series, and animated voice performances, Jackson so completely embodied the character that it’s now almost impossible to imagine anyone else in the role.

Idris Elba has the potential to achieve that same level of definitive casting.

An accomplished actor in his own right, Elba has demonstrated remarkable range across projects such as Luther, the Sonic films, Thor, and The Avengers and continues both in the live action and animated TV and movie projects as well as within the gaming industry. He brings natural authority, and star power, which in my opinion are all essential qualities for Man-At-Arms, who serves not only as Eternia’s greatest strategist, master of weapons and inventor, but also as a mentor and one of the few who knows that Prince Adam is He-Man.

From what we see in the trailer, Elba’s Man-At-Arms appears every bit as formidable and commanding as his animated counterpart. He manifests a quiet toughness and a sense of wisdom that fits the character perfectly, reinforcing his role as both a battle-hardened warrior and a guiding force within Eternia.

If early impressions are anything to go by, this may turn out to be one of the film’s strongest casting choices.

Teela - Camila Mendes

Photo Credit: Amazon MGM Studios - © 2026 Amazon MGM Studios Content Services LLC The Layout of this image has been designed by Go Explore Radio for the presentation of this blog post

If you’re a fan of Netflix’s Riverdale, Camila Mendes is best known for portraying Veronica Lodge from the world of Archie Comics. Beyond television, Camila has appeared in a number of films and series and is also known for her work as a singer. What many people may not realise is that she also co-founded the production company Honor Role, showing that she has a strong presence both in front of and behind the camera.

Based on what we see in the trailer, this feels like a strong casting choice for Masters of the Universe. Camila shows she can capture multiple sides of Teela’s character: the softer, more compassionate side in her interaction with Adam aboard the spaceship, and the warrior side (Woman-At-Arms) during her battle with Evil-Lyn. All of this is done while keeping Teela feminine, as she was originally intended to be.

If the film lives up to expectations, this role could help establish Camila Mendes as a credible female action star, in a similar way that The Avengers did for Scarlett Johansson, The Woman King for Viola Davis, and Wonder Woman for Gal Gadot, just to name a few off the top of my head.

Although we don’t see a great deal of verbal interaction from Teela in this first trailer, I’m genuinely looking forward to seeing how Camila fully brings the character to life when the film is released.

Other Characters we briefly saw in the trailer

While there are still many characters we haven’t seen in this first trailer, we do get brief glimpses of several figures who are instantly recognisable to He-Man fans of all ages. Even in short appearances, these characters help establish the wider world of Masters of the Universe 2026.

The Good Guys

There are some notable heroes missing from this trailer, which suggests they’re being saved for future reveals. That said, several familiar faces do appear.

  • The Sorceress (played by Morena Baccarin)
Although only seen briefly and somewhat blurred, she appears in both her human form and her falcon form, Zoar, confirming her presence in the film.

  • Queen Marlena (played by Charlotte Riley)
Marlena features prominently and plays an important role in this first trailer, particularly in relation to Adam’s backstory.

  • Roboto (voiced by Kristen Wiig)
Roboto appears in the trailer and is voiced by Wiig. In the original cartoon series, the character was male.

  • Malcolm / Fisto (played by Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson)
Fisto can be spotted twice in the trailer, making his presence more noticeable than some of the other supporting characters.

  • Mekaneck (played by James Wilkinson)
Mekaneck does appear, although his role in the trailer is brief and not especially prominent.

  • Cringer / Battle Cat
Adam’s faithful companion is present, although we don’t see him transform into Battle Cat in this trailer. While Cringer doesn’t speak on screen, Adam’s opening monologue confirms that tigers talk in this world. This is the one that honestly put a smile on my face.

  • Young Prince Adam (played by Artie Wilkinson Hunt)
Who is very important to the film plot.

The Bad Guys

Masters of the Universe (2026) other characters baddies 2- go explore radio
Photo Credit: Amazon MGM Studios - © 2026 Amazon MGM Studios Content Services LLC

As with the heroes, not all of the villains are shown, but the bad guys are more prominent overall in this first trailer.

  • Evil-Lyn (played by Alison Brie)
Evil-Lyn makes a strong impression, particularly during her confrontation with Teela, and is presented as powerful and intimidating.

  • Trap Jaw (played by Sam C. Wilson)
We only see Trap Jaw from behind, but he is clearly identifiable by his hook arm, which matches his most recognisable look from the cartoon and toy line.

  • Spikor
Spikor appears in a form that differs significantly from both the toy and cartoon versions. This interpretation looks far more demonic and menacing.

  • Goat Man (played by Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson)
Goat Man is seen walking alongside Skeletor. His design is striking and physically imposing. But does look like he could be related to Hellboy.

  • Skeletor (played by Jared Leto)
While there has been discussion around the casting choice, the trailer presents Skeletor in a way that fully resembles his animated counterpart. Visually, the character looks faithful to the cartoons and works well within the film’s darker tone.

Costume, Visual Design & World-Building for MOTU

Eternia

Let’s start with Eternia itself. Unlike the 1987 Masters of the Universe, where Eternia was very much a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it setting and most of the film took place on Earth (which arguably didn’t help its long-term success), this film clearly puts real effort into world-building.

It’s immediately obvious that a huge amount of attention to detail has gone into creating Eternia. We see familiar buildings and ships that hardcore fans will recognise, alongside new elements that expand the world. What I really love about this version of Eternia is that it feels like Game of Thrones meets Star Wars, which is exactly what Eternia has always been at its core, a blend of ancient fantasy and sci-fi.

Castle Grayskull

Exterior

Castle Grayskull looks epic and honestly, even better than its animated counterpart. This is exactly how I would imagine Grayskull looking if it existed in the real world; ancient, imposing, and steeped in history. If you look closely at the sides of Grayskull’s iconic jaw-shaped entrance, you can even see holes where a drawbridge would have been attached.

Interior

Inside, Grayskull doesn’t look extravagant or polished instead, it feels gothic and ancient, lit by candles and heavy with history. You get the sense that countless stories have unfolded within those walls, and this is also where we briefly see the Sword of Power housed.

The Royal Palace of Eternia

The royal palace, home to King Randor, Queen Marlena and Prince Adam, looks spectacular. One major difference from the animated series is the way the palace is connected to Castle Grayskull by a bridge. On the palace side, the bridge appears more modern, while the section leading to Grayskull looks ancient and partially crumbling.

Although we don’t get to see inside the palace, just behind the Statues of the Past Kings of Eternia at the entrance we glimpse two large tiger statues guarding the doors. This feels significant. It suggests that tigers may have been symbolic companions to the royal family similar to direwolves to the Starks  or dragons to the Targaryens in Game of Thrones, rather than Cringer/Battle Cat being a one-off case.

Eternia itself feels like a fully explorable world, almost like a real-world gaming environment. Within main city, there are additional structures visible, such as what appears to be an observation tower on the mainland and another tower behind Castle Grayskull itself.

The Statues of the Past Kings of Eternia

This is a new addition for the live-action film and feels inspired by the Argonath in The Lord of the Rings or the Titan of Braavos in Game of Thrones. These statues clearly represent past Kings of Eternia.

One statue, holding a sword up, could very well be King Grayskull, the original wielder of the Sword of Power. Opposite him stands another prominent figure holding a staff, who I believe is King Randor, father of Prince Adam (and Princess Adora, when you know, you know).

Snake Mountain

Snake Mountain looks every bit the menacing lair of Skeletor and his minions,  dark, threatening, and suitably evil.

The Vehicles

The Collector - Skeletors Ship

Long-time He-Man fans will recognise the classic vehicles, but Travis Knight has clearly tweaked them to feel less cartoonish or toy like and more made for live action. One standout is Skeletor’s Collector ship, it still retains its iconic claws and eyes, but now looks like a genuinely advanced and dangerous ship.

Masters of the Universe Easter Eggs You Missed

Photo Credit: Amazon MGM Studios - © 2026 Amazon MGM Studios Content Services LLC The Layout of this image has been designed by Go Explore Radio for the presentation of this blog post

From this very first trailer, eagle-eyed fans will already have spotted several interesting Easter eggs hidden throughout Masters of the Universe trailer. There were so many, in fact, that I briefly considered doing a standalone article just on this topic, but then I remembered this isn’t a Masters of the Universe fan site. This is Go Explore Radio, where we cover travel, lifestyle, and entertainment, both on air and in writing. (A small shameless plug for anyone new here.)

So, back to the Easter eggs that stood out.

The Toy Shop

The toy shop sequence is absolutely packed with references, and it’s one of the richest scenes in the trailer for long-time fans.

  • The Power Sword is shown being held by a statue of Vikor. This design is based on a drawing by Mark Taylor, originally thought to be an early concept for He-Man.

  • Just behind Adam, on the display cabinets and slightly out of focus, is Torak, another Mark Taylor drawing and an early He-Man design concept.

  • The fact that the Power Sword is discovered in a toy shop is a clear nod to Mattel, the company that originally introduced He-Man as a toy line.

  • A Big Jim toy can be spotted just behind the shop assistant. This is a deliberate reference, as Cringer / Battle Cat was originally moulded from the Big Jim tiger figure, and several Big Jim play sets went on to influence the Masters of the Universe toy line.

Prince Adam Details

There are also several subtle but meaningful details connected specifically to Prince Adam that may be easy to miss on first viewing.

  • When we see a young Adam running into Castle Grayskull with Queen Marlena, his outfit closely matches the style and colours traditionally worn by Prince Adam in the original cartoon.

  • On Earth and later when he returns to Eternia, Adam is shown wearing a pink (salmon-coloured) shirt with a white vest underneath, a clear nod to the colour palette often used for Adam in the animated series.

  • Adam’s bedroom on Earth is filled with drawings of swords and sketches of people he remembers. One drawing appears to resemble King Randor, while another looks strikingly similar to Skeletor.

  • Adam is sent to Earth because Queen Marlena was originally an astronaut from Earth, a well-established piece of Masters of the Universe lore.

  • The controversial sign reading “Adam Glenn – He/Him” has drawn attention online. The use of He/Him is a direct play on Adam becoming He-Man, rather than the interpretation some viewers have suggested. Adam’s surname, Glenn, is taken from Queen Marlena’s Earth surname, staying consistent with established backstory.

Other Notable Easter Eggs

  • The June 5th 2026 release date aligns with the birthday of a late He-Man designer, Mark Taylor, who worked on many of the original Masters of the Universe toys, including He-Man, Skeletor, Battle Cat, and Castle Grayskull.

Theories for Masters of the Universe

masters of the universe theories - go explore radio
Photo Credit for the sword of power: Amazon MGM Studios - © 2026 Amazon MGM Studios Content Services LLC Mattel Toys own the write To Masters of the Universe He-Man and She-ra and the 1987 MOTU rights are owned by Sony

Based on this trailer and a few additional details I’ve been digging into, I have a number of theories about where Travis Knight’s Masters of the Universe 2026 could be heading.

Queen Marlena and Adam’s Time on Earth

The trailer shows Adam living on Earth in a bedroom containing a globe and telescope. These details align with established canon, where Queen Marlena is an astronaut from Earth.

Based on this, it is reasonable to interpret that Marlena sent Adam to Earth to live with her family as he users her surname. The visual emphasis on astronomy supports the idea that Adam’s time on Earth is directly connected to his mother’s origins and his eventual journey home.

Adam Being Hidden for Protection

In original Masters of the Universe lore, Princess Adora is kidnapped, while Adam remains on Eternia. The film appears to be approaching this storyline differently.

Rather than relying on memory wipes, as seen in the cartoon, the trailer suggests Adam was removed and hidden because of the war on Eternia. This would provide a more grounded explanation for why he grows up unaware of his destiny as He-Man and not wanting to lose another child to the Horde which Skeletor was a member off, once he attacks Eternia the Queen sends Adam to earth.

The Horde Reference in Casting Credits

A notable detail appears in the casting information, where stunt performer Maceo Stennett-Hughes is credited as a “Horde Alien Soldier”.

The Horde is a well-established faction in Masters of the Universe lore and is closely associated with Hordak, who plays a significant role in the wider Eternian conflict. Including this credit strongly suggests the Horde exists within this film’s universe, even if not fully revealed in the main story.

Indications for a She-Ra Storyline

In established canon, Hordak kidnaps Princess Adora, Adam’s twin, and raises her under his control. The presence of a Horde reference raises the possibility that this storyline exists or is planned within the wider narrative.

If so, it would align with The Secret of the Sword movie, which introduced She-Ra and expanded the Masters of the Universe world beyond Eternia and I am here for it as long as they stick to the filmnation version and not the Dream Works version.

If they do this actresses like Peyton List, Florence Pugh, Claire Holt, Millie Alcock, Dove Cameron or Millie Alcock would all be great in this role.

In 2025, Mattel released a special 40th Anniversary edition toy of the Princess of Power as well as did Pop funko released a special edition, so it would be a great way to pay homage to this.

The Sword of Power as a Beacon

In the comics and extended lore, the Sword of Power functions as more than a weapon. When activated, it can be sensed by powerful figures such as The Sorceress and Skeletor.

This could explain why the trailer shows both Teela and Beast Man on Earth. Their presence suggests opposing forces are searching for Adam and the sword simultaneously.

King Grayskull and Legacy Casting

While not confirmed, I have a strong feeling we’ll see Dolph Lundgren appear at some point, whether in a vision, flashback, or end-credits moment as King Grayskull.

It would be a perfect nod to the 1987 live-action film and a brilliant way to connect generations of fans.

Flashbacks to Keldor

Finally, there’s Jared Leto’s casting as Skeletor. I wouldn’t be surprised if this includes flashbacks to Keldor, showing Skeletor before his transformation, as in my opinion Leto does kind of resemble Keldor, if not they could of got a less controversial actor for Skeletor like Mike Hammel who voice Skeletor in Master’s of the Universe Revalations.

Exploring his fall and his connection to Hordak could add real depth to the character and make him more than just a one-note villain.

If even a few of these theories turn out to be true, taken together, these elements suggest Masters of the Universe 2026 is structured not only as a standalone film, but as a foundation for a wider, interconnected world rooted firmly in established lore.

Final Verdict for The Masters of The Universe Trailer

Final Verdict for The Masters of The Universe Trailer - by the power of greyskull
Photo Credit: Amazon MGM Studios - © 2026 Amazon MGM Studios Content Services LLC

What I really enjoy about this trailer is how much it reveals while still leaving plenty to discover. It gives us enough to get excited, but not so much that it spoils the experience and it’s definitely got people talking, which is exactly what a first proper trailer should do.

What stood out most for me is the attention to detail. There are subtle, well-placed nods to the original Mattel toys, the early comics, and the much-loved Filmation cartoons of the 1980s. These moments feel thoughtful for the hardcore fans rather than forced, and they suggest a genuine respect for the source material with some artistic changes and add-ons.

I can’t say for certain that Masters of the Universe 2026 will be the film fans have been hoping for, but based on this trailer, I’m genuinely excited to see where it goes when it arrives in cinemas on 5 June 2026. (And yes, if anyone happens to be offering premiere invites, I’m absolutely available).

If this film delivers, I’d love to see it become something that can grow and expand, much like the worlds built by Lucas film ltd, Marvel, and DC. There’s something appealing about stepping away from modern superheroes for a moment and returning to a genre where ancient fantasy, warriors, and magic blend with sci-fi and space-faring adventure.

For now, I’m feeling optimistic and intrigued and that’s exactly where a trailer should leave you.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on the trailer. What stood out to you most?
